A Legacy of Golf in Dubai
In October 1998, legendary Swiss golf course architect Peter Harradine designed the world-class JA Golf course as a par 36 layout. His admirable design incorporates the natural landscape of the land where the original Gate House to the hotel can be seen on the 5th hole. Although the greens were sown with Bermuda 219 grass from Florida, USA, the greens were modified in 2016 with a new Pure Dynasty Platinum Paspalum.
In 2018 we asked Peter Harradine our original course architect in 1998 to come back and redesign the first three holes to accommodate the new JA Lake View Hotel. We are so pleased with the seamless changes that he implemented which has changed the resort’s course to a Par 35 course. He managed to keep the identity and flow the same as the original holes, and incorporating the new hotel to make a picturesque setting around the 2nd green and 3rd tee area.
Challenge Match
Since 1998 JA Golf course has been proud to host 10 Challenge Matches in partnership with the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. The Challenge Match was the curtain raiser event for the main European tour tournament and included the best 6 or 8 players in the main field including Tiger Woods, Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, Seve Ballesteros, and many others. These tournaments were a great opportunity to showcase the Resort Course on the International stage and raise valuable funds for charity.
