 JA Resorts & Hotels are proud to once again host the Omega Dubai Desert Classic Challenge Match at Jebel Ali Golf Resort, the curtain raiser to the world renowned Omega Dubai Desert Classic. Teeing off on Tuesday 29th January, Jebel Ali Golf Resort’s nine-hole course provides the perfect practice playground for six of golf’s top players prior to the tournament.
An outdoor lunch will precede the Challenge Match featuring world-renowned golfing stars, such as Lee Westwood. Pre-match hospitality packages are available at the VIP luncheon for only AED 600 per person or AED 5,000 for a table of ten. The Challenge Match will tee off at 3pm, inviting spectators to support their favourite player in a relaxed, informal yet competitive atmosphere on the fairways and greens of the Resort Course. This spectacular day of entertainment isn’t all fun and games, as the six golfing pros compete in a greensome format to win the Challenge Match trophy, and to add just a little more excitement the US$1,000,000 Hole-in-One prize! David Thomson, Chief Operating Officer of JA Resorts & Hotels expressed his delight at hosting the prestigious event. “We’re truly honoured to be working alongside ‘golf in DUBAI’ to host the prestigious Challenge Match at the grounds of the Resort. The Omega Dubai Desert Classic always attracts the top names of the golfing world and we’re thrilled they’ll be playing our course. We’re not charging our resident golf fans to come and watch, we’re simply asking spectators to make a donation at the entrance, which will be distributed to a number of children’s charities”. From 1998 to 2006, Jebel Ali Golf Resort proudly played host to the annual Challenge Match and the nine-hole course has seen golfing legends such as Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Mark O’Meara, Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie and many more. Progressing in importance over the years, the Challenge Match has gone from strength to strength, attracting top names and increasing visitors each year.
